TPNPB Kodap XVI Yahukimo Conducts Flag Raising Ceremony of the Morning Star at Kinbule Headquarters

YAHUKIMO, TOMEI.ID | The West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) Kodap XVI Yahukimo reported the execution of a Morning Star flag-raising ceremony at Kinbule Headquarters on Monday, December 1, 2025.

This information was conveyed through the Second Press Release received by the editorial team of tomei.id from the Management of the TPNPB National Commission Headquarters on Tuesday (2/12/2025).

According to the report forwarded to the Central Headquarters, the ceremony was led by Brigadier General Elkius Kobak and involved troops from the Sisibia and Edensawi Battalions. The TPNPB described the event as part of the commemoration of the December 1, 1961, declaration, which they regard as the foundational political legitimacy for Papua’s independence struggle.

Through the press release, the Management of the TPNPB National Commission Headquarters called upon all members and sympathizers to “strengthen the ranks of resistance.” They reaffirmed their stance that Papua’s status within the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia constitutes an “illegal occupation,” which, according to the TPNPB, must be opposed through armed revolutionary means.

The TPNPB also highlighted the responsibility of the Indonesian government in resolving the Papua conflict. They urged President Prabowo Subianto to pay serious attention to the security situation in Papua, which, in their view, has resulted in civilian casualties over several decades.

The press release also included congratulations on what they term the 64th Anniversary of the Independence of the Papuan Nation. The TPNPB expressed appreciation to supporters, pro-independence diplomats, as well as countries in Melanesia, the Pacific, Asia, and Africa, along with international advocates who have continued to provide moral and political support.

In its statement, the TPNPB once again called for global support to “expel the illegal occupation of the Indonesian government in Papua.” This statement forms part of the armed group’s political narrative within the context of the December 1 commemoration.

The press release was signed by the leaders of the military wing of the Free Papua Movement (Organisasi Papua Merdeka): General Goliat Tabuni (High Commander), Lieutenant General Melkisedek Awom (Deputy Commander), Major General Terianus Satto (Chief of General Staff), and Major General Lekagak Telenggen (Commander of General Operations). The public release was issued by Sebby Sambom, Spokesperson for the TPNPB of the Free Papua Movement. [*].
